Finish the year strong #networking
Guess what!!!! We have a little over 6 weeks left before we head into 2019! WOW!!!
This year has brought so many amazing opportunities, new relationships, partnerships and collaborations! I’m so grateful for it all, the preparation, the follow ups, the coffee, the new experiences and even the uncomfortable moments!!
So as we all head into 2019, here are a few tips that will help you master and not allow fear to creep in! Networking, like anything else one wants to master, takes time, practice and patience.
- Practice introducing yourself…(Elevator Pitch) know what you want to say! Example: Hi I’m Kesha, I love working with brides bringing to life their dress ideas, helping them create the most magical day of their lives! I’m the founder of Magical brides, I’ve been designing dresses for 15 years.
- Go volunteer..last year a group of ladies and I volunteered at St. Patrick’s Center, around the holiday season, (go CORO Women in Leadership class #68) we made a meal together and served a group of ladies, it was the most wonderful time of the year (we seriously sang, served and got to know each other on another level) Volunteering is an amazing way to network in arenas that you may not otherwise enter!
- Book meeting times and connect or reconnect..since I have scheduled time off from my 9-5 at the end of November and December, I’m using these days to connect with individuals I have met this year that I haven’t had a chance to meet with. I’ve set aside the first 3 days to meet up!!
As I prepare to close out this year I’ve made a decision to share my over 17 years of recruiting and networking keys that have worked for me. I truly understand that networking is so much more than a one night stand and after years of prep and prayer, I’ll be releasing my first book!! 2018 has been such an insightful, stretching, overcoming year..I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve met so many amazing people this year alone and it feels like I’ve known them for years! My heart is happy!
Remember this, people who are supposed to be in your circle will find you and for those who aren’t it’s OK!
Be who you are because those that matter don’t mind and those that mind-don’t matter! Dr. Seuss
